Marist Dragons Dragon Boat Club, Woolwich

Paddle for

fitness and fun.

Get on the water with Marist Dragons!

Marist Dragons is a fun and sociable community club that trains on the Lane Cove River, one of Sydney’s loveliest stretches of water. If you live in Hunters Hill, Woolwich, East Ryde, Lane Cove, Longueville, Northcliff or Greenwich, you’ve probably seen our crews paddling out on Saturday mornings or Monday evenings.

Dragon boating is ideal for all ages over 11 years – a  team sport that gives you a full workout, building core strength and aerobic fitness. With Marist Dragons, you can be super-competitive or just there to “splash-and-dash”. Age is no barrier: paddlers range in age from 11 to 60-plus. The club provides the equipment. All you need to bring to training are comfortable clothes, shoes, towel and a water bottle. Sessions are supervised by experienced coaches.

Never dragon-boated before? You can try this wonderful sport at no cost. Marist Dragons invites you to attend up to five free training sessions before you decide to commit. Our sessions are held 8.30am-10am on Saturdays, and 6.30pm-8pm on Mondays.

To book, phone 0430 448 655 or email

Enjoy up to five free training sessions before you join.

Back to paddling

Marist Dragons will soon be paddling again, thanks to the easing of the NSW Government’s Covid restrictions on community sport. Paddlers must be double-vaccinated (or have a medical exemption) and bring proof of this to all training sessions. They must also obey the club’s Covid Safety Plan, which includes a limit of 20 people at training sessions, checking in by QR code and strict adherence to social distancing and sanitation rules. Good news: masks aren’t required during warm-ups or paddling.

Watch this space for details of when Marist Dragons will be back on the water. In the meantime, help us by paying your (reduced-rate) annual fees: $350 for adults, $300 for under-24s and $250 for under-18s. Register at and contact our treasurer on

We expect training to start soon, so get your registrations in and your fitness levels up.
