Regattas

Marist Dragons periodically competes in regattas against other clubs.  The dragon-boat racing season runs from August to April. The most common racing distances are 200m, 500m and 2km. There are usually five sanctioned DBNSW regattas every season, plus State and Australian championships. There are also regattas run by individual clubs.

Most of the DBNSW regattas are held at the Sydney International Regatta Centre, Penrith. A highlight of the racing season is the Chinese New Year regatta, held at Sydney’s Darling Harbour.

The racing season culminates with the Australian Championships, held at the end of the season. Each State and Territory takes turns to host the event, and Marist Dragons conducts fundraising to subsidise the cost. The championships include state-v-state competitions as well as inter-club races.

Marist Dragons has competed across most categories in men’s, women’s and mixed teams, racing as Juniors (Under 16/Under 18) Masters (over-40s), and mixed-aged (Prems) crews.

Please refer to the DBNSW Racing Calendar for the full list of events.
